While on a 3-week residency in the Arctic Circle (with Arcticcircle.org) in October 2012, I had a day where I ran out of film. This day we made landfall on a shore that was littered with debris from dozens of shipwrecks from the last century – mostly 6ft beams of lumber. I decided to spend the afternoon arranging them along the beach to spell out a giant ‘Everything Will Be Ok’. Our ships’ captain (Captain Joe) apparently decided to radio in to the rescue station in Norway to let them know that there is no emergency and to disregard this message should any helicopters fly in the area. In essence, he let Arctic rescue teams know that ‘everything will be ok.’
