This week’s feature: Joshua Tree National Park Field School. At the initiative of artist/professor Nancy Floyd, Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design students traveled across the U.S. to immerse themselves in high desert aesthetics and make art reflecting their encounters. For three weeks, the group explored Joshua Tree National Park, engaged in conversations and critiques, connected with local artists Bobby Furst, Kim Stringfellow, and Sant Khalsa, hiked dozens of miles, and shared the experience of iconic sites such as A-Z West, the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, and Sky’s the Limit Observatory.
